Twin Centre Hericanes Bantam Rep B off to a very good start to the regular season!
After 7 games played in the regular season, the Bantam Rep B Hericanes find themselves tied for first place in the Central West division with 6 Wins 1 loss and and are looking to keep the good times rolling!  With all girls contributing, it has been a great team effort thus far.

With a lot of parody in our league, the games have been very low scoring with lots of tight checking.  In those 7 games, the Hericanes have scored 12 goals and only given up 4!   So with that,  I do not think it comes to any surprise that the team all agrees that our goalie Katie L,  has been the team's best player thus far in the season.  Her consistently great play and focus has been essential in the team's success.  The confidence she exudes to the rest of the team is very apparent and has bailed us out time and time again. She gives us a chance to be in every game, what more could you ask?    Well done Katie!!!

Along with Katie, the Hericanes defense has been a huge part of limiting other teams to scoring chances and have helped out with the offence.  The defense pairings of Avery H and Macoda P have a great knack of keeping pucks in the other teams zone and getting pucks to the net.  They do not shy away from anyone and play a physical but clean style.  They make smart plays by reversing the puck in our end and work well together as a pair.  The other defense pairing of the "Bellas" (Bella D and Bella K) really use their speed well with getting to pucks first in our end and moving the puck quick.   They read the play well and have confidence in making plays knowing that if things do not go as planned, they can get back and recover quickly.  They usually find a way to get pucks towards the other team's net which creates chances.  It is safe to say that our defense has also played a big role in our team's success thus far.  Great job girls!!!

The Hericanes are very lucky to have 3 balanced forward lines that all contribute in different ways and play well together.  The forward line of Hannah K, Claire H. and Lauren S, is probably our best checking line.  They use their speed and hard work to keep the opposing defense on there heals in the offensive zone.  They back check hard and battle hard when the situation arises.   The goals this line produce are a result of their work ethic and getting pucks to the net and being at the net.  On many occasions, they keep the puck in the opposing team's end for their entire shift, with cycling the puck, keeping their feet moving  and non stop work.  Its pretty hard for the other team to get a goal if you play mostly in their end.

Another of our forward lines consists of Marlee F, Paige T and Katya Y.  This line has huge offensive abilities and has demonstrated that many times this year.   What this line does very well is controls the puck deep in the offensive zone, with heads up play in front of the net, they get open and are able to create scoring chances.   They look for each other and each of them, can carry and control the puck, giving their line mates more time and space to get to a good area to get quality scoring chances.  All three of these girls have great shots and great hockey sense!

Last but certainly not least, our third forward line consists of Brooklyn R, Sydney P. and Mackenna K.   Like the other 2 lines, this trio plays very well together.  This line is able to break out of our zone by sticking to their position, looking for a safe play and then sets up in the offensive zone.  While controlling the puck, these 3 are able to draw players to them and then find our D open on the points for a shot on net.  All 3 are work horses in all 3 zones, always ready to challenge and battle the other team.   This hard work has resulted in some nice goals for the team.  All 9 forwards have made great contributions to the team's success this year.  Keep up the great play girls!!!

The Hericanes now have a break in their league schedule until Nov 22 where they play Ayr.  Next up is a tournament in Stratford on the Nov 17th week-end and the girls are hoping to have a great showing there.  All in all the coaching staff could not ask for much more (even though we will). We are very proud of the efforts the girl's have made thus far in the season and we need this to continue.  The girls continue to work hard in practice and are playing unselfish and high quality hockey.  Very fun to watch and to be a part of!

Well done, lets keep it going Girls!!!
