As a coach how do you measure success?
I witnessed it from
the bench as I looked at my team and thought, “battered and bruised”. We had 9
skaters compared to a full bench. One forced to sit out do to injury, one came
sick, one with muscle injury but
played, one took a puck to the wrist but played on. All exhausted, but dug
deeper each time they went on the ice. Each refusing to loose their individual
battles. Great passing, even under pressure. For-checking as hard as we have
seen to date. Deserving to be playing at a BB level when I had questioned it
myself. We out-shot Kitchener 19 to 8. We lost 2 to 0, but won as a team
because we played a great game. Everyone was a contributor. I
am proud to be their coach and judge them on how they played the game and not
the score.
GO HERICANES!!
