
HOCKEY PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
The following goals and expectations for parents have been adopted by the Twin Centre Hericanes Girls Hockey Association to ensure a positive, respectful and fun atmosphere for everyone involved throughout the season.
GOALS:
It is the goal of the Hericanes organization and by extension all parents to ensure:

A quality experience for all athletes

Development of skills to progress as a player

Sportsmanship on and off the ice

Development of positive values such as commitment, hard work and respect

Foster a love of the game and of the team building experience.
Winning is an outcome of the accomplishment of these goals.
EXPECTATIONS:
The parent shall:

Ensure to the best of your ability that your child abides by the rules of hockey, the policies of the TCGHA and principles of good sportsmanship.

Ensure to the best of your ability that your child respects her teammates, coaches, team officials, referees, opponents, opposing coaches, opposing team officials and other participants in games, practices and other associated activities.

Refrain from criticism of coaches, team officials, referees, teammates, opponents, opposing coaches, opposing team officials and other participants games and other associated activities and, when you feel that criticism is warranted, you shall offer it in a manner that is fully respectful, through proper channels and away from the hockey rink in any event.

Ensure to the best of your ability that your child conducts herself in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury, both physical and psychological, to herself and others which includes refraining absolutely from making any derogatory comments as to another individual’s race, ethnic origin, colour, religion, gender and/or sexual orientation.

Refrain from directing comments which are insulting, intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, malicious, degrading or otherwise offensive to players, team officials, referees and association volunteers including but not restricted to division managers, board members, executive members (directors) and any other association staff such. If you feel that criticism of any such person is warranted, you shall offer it in a manner that is fully respectful, through proper channels and away from the hockey rink in any event.

Refrain from discussing the weaknesses of other team players and/or coaching staff with your child.
Any violations by any Parents of this Code will be reviewed first by the Hericanes Board. The Parent may be required to appear before the Board and be subject to investigation. The Board reserves the right to suspend a Parent for not following the Code of conduct at their discretion.
