Another weekend, another hockey tournament for the U15 Hericanes!
This past weekend, we were in the Cambridge Roadrunners Tournament with the hopes of coming home with a gold medal! The girls battled hard! Finishing our round robin, 2-0-1. A huge shout out to our goalies who didn’t allow one goal through round robin play!
Finishing first overall, put us in the semi-final game against the Mississauga Hurricanes. A very hard fought battle. After regulation, the game was tied. Two overtime periods were held: 3 minutes of 3 on 3 and 2 minutes of 2 on 2. Some crazy moments for sure but still the game stayed tied! A shootout was needed and we came out on top putting us in the finals against the Mt. Forest Rams.
The Championship game was exciting. A lot of back and forth action but unfortunately we came up short, losing 1-0. As a coach it is tough seeing the looks on the girls faces after losing a well fought battle but I am extremely proud of them. We as coaches can only hope, these girls look back on this weekend and see how far they have come! They have accomplished so many amazing things!
