The Hericanes Senior B's season ended with a heartbreaking double-overtime loss in a thrilling Quarter-Final game at the OWHA Provincials.
After going undefeated in Pool play, the Hericanes hosted Parkhill (eventual Silver Medalists) in the Senior B quarter-final. Relentless team play and commitment to the game plan secured an early 2nd Period 2-1 lead. The lead would hold until late in the 3rd Period, when Parkhill capitalized on a loose puck in the slot to tie the game and force overtime.
The teams continued the torrid pace of play through overtime. After fending off 2 strange penalty calls in the 1st overtime, the Hericanes almost ended the game with a shot off the crossbar. After trading great scoring chances during the 2nd overtime period, Parkhill capitalized on a scramble in front of the net late in the period to win the game.
With its great run at Provincials, combined with a League Regular Season 1st Place trophy and Niagara Tournament Gold, the Senior Hericanes capped off a great first season for the program. Well done ladies!
