Quite a Battle!
The Hericanes battled the Belmont Blazers this weekend having played a game on Saturday in St. Clements and then a second game in Belmont on Sunday.
On Saturday, Belmont came out as they normally do and gave the Hericanes all they could handle. After a number of superb saves by Halle Murray, the score ended in a 0-0 tie. The defence and forwards should also be commended for their hard work as both sides made scoring chances few and far between.
On Sunday, the Hericanes pushed hard for a different result and won 3-0. Goaltending was again strong as was the defensive play. Throughout the game, even when the Blazer players made their way around the Hericane defence a back checking forward was waiting. Such a fabulous game to watch as the effort by the Hericanes was very impressive. The Hericanes scored in the first to gain a 1-0 lead and then added two more goals in the third. Well done girls. Quite an accomplishment as Belmont had not lost a regular season game all year and sit atop the standings in first.
